Mark is the perfect boyfriend…until he misbehaves. When Karen and Jason move into their new house, the first thing they notice about next door is the huge and verdant yucca tree in the back garden. Their new neighbour, Ross, and his partner, shy, agoraphobic Mark, initially seem friendly, but the cracks soon begin to show.
After months of late-night rows and increasingly vicious arguments, Mark disappears, leaving Karen and her husband to assume he has left. But then Ross throws a party to celebrate Mark’s birthday, and the man at the centre of the celebrations is a taller, slimmer, blonder Mark than anyone remembers….
